Thanks, this was a great course and I love the on line format.
ProD Seminars - Course Testimonials
Very knowledgeable presenter with excellent teaching skills. The information was concise and well explained. Good pace and time management with the material.
I have been treating infertility for over nine years. It was very detailed and presented the research excellently.
The information was excellent as was the clarity of delivery. However, because I am not well-versed in herbs, I was unable to absorb much, if any, of the herbals she recommended and/or used. I will have to get this elsewhere. But the course was tremendous and extremely worthwhile.
I am becoming more adept using the prod seminars all of which i find most useful, and a great way to hone in on specialties.
Sharon is an inspiring teacher with a clear presentation and an obvious deep understanding of the material. I took this course to find out if I would like to invest money in the graduate mentorship at some point in the future. The answer is a resounding yes.
This course provides a helpful investigation of a certain type of blockage involving the Shao Yang that is often missed and mis-treated. Sharon Weitzenbaum, as usual, uses wonderful metaphors to clearly explain sometimes vague tenets of Chinese medicine in a professorial yet humble and down-to-earth way.
Some great clarifications: how to practically identify “bitter taste in the mouth” and “costal fullness”, what is the real meaning of “alternating fever and chills” and “half exterior/half interior” (not what most people think), and how to “harmonize”. She also pulls from Dr. Huang Huang and explains the ban xia type versus the chai hu type. Interesting! The analysis of key formulas explains when and how to apply and modify them. She even mentions a few tips on how to understand the Shang Han Lun.
This course is really diagnosis and herbs, no acupuncture, and many of the formulas can be applied to menopause, though there are certainly wider applications.
Sharon’s anecdotes enrich the material, and the course isn’t that long comparatively, but I do think it could have been presented in less time. There were a couple key diagnostic features that didn’t come across without visuals, though the rest of the key info came across well. In Brandon Horn and Wendy Yu’s work, blockage treatments (if needed) are a first step in their infertility algorithm. By contrast, this course deals exclusively with Pivot blockage, or Shao Yang, as the title implies. This was still much more interesting and useful than I was expecting. Bottom line: I have some new strategies for old tools that I think will really benefit a number of patients. A similar in-depth exploration of other types of blockages would be welcome.
Finally, an advanced course presented by well versed practitioners. I am very impressed with the depth and breadth of their knowledge, particularly with translating the integration of biochemistry, nutrition, and classical chinese medicine. I am already using this information in my practice and look forward to taking more courses with this dynamic duo
This has been the best PDA class I have attended. The very advanced course was dense with very relevant information that I have been applying in my practice. This information has made me a much more informed practitioner armed with loads of valuable information for my patients. I will have a hard time narrowing my points of new knowledge down to three!
Great intro class to understanding the workings of western fertility treatments.
I feel I have gained more confidence in treating patients undergoing fertility treatments as well as those who have concerns about varying conditions which could affect their fertility. I have already been able to apply what I have learned from this course and feel that I am able to express myself more clearly regarding fertility and the menstrual cycle to my patients.
very satisfied with the class and also the ease at which to obtain classes & CEUs from pro-d seminars. thank you!
This course is a must-take for anyone working with infertility, and especially before a live seminar with Brandon and Wendy. It is indeed dense with information, so takes a lot of patience, but it is incredibly mind-expanding as well as clinically practical. Brandon and Wendy are speaking the language of Chinese and bio-medicine fluently that I speak at a much lesser level, hence the frequent rewinds on my part! However, it is so worth it. Only those of us with training can fully appreciate teachers like this who can make the cosmic connection of Taoist principals with modern science. Such a privelege! What was inspiring about this lecture was not only the application of this information to help bring healthy babies into the world, but a reminder of what it takes to be an excellent (not average) practitioner. If we were musicians, Brandon and Wendy would be performing at a concert level, and that's because they clearly do the equivalent of disciplined daily practice: the instrument in this case being Chinese medicine and the human body. This course has re-inspired me to elevate my own work to a higher level and prioritize that daily practice. Thank you for so generously sharing your knowledge and hard work.
Twice this year I have had the privilege of studying with Dr Huang Huang. Huang is a Shang Han Lun Scholar. His special focus has been the development of the system 10 body types. These body types are archetypal representations of pattern imbalances. Just as we might diagnose a person as having a wood, or fire constitution, this system presents constitutional constellations that are reflected in the patterns treated by an herb and its formulas. Thus, an herb reflects a type of person or way of being in the world and also a predisposition towards developing a certain kind of disease pattern. Dr. Huang presents with such clarity that he reduces the most complex cases to their simplest components: the components of the qi dynamic of the body. His perspective is refreshing in it’s depth, focus and simplicity. It reminds us that Chinese herbs treat an entire gestalt: how a person comes into the world. How they are predisposed to imbalance. I strongly recommend this course to beginning and experienced practitioners. - Cara Frank, New Yok, USA
Convenience and information is short but very informative
I liked pausing to process the information or take notes. That helped me to attend to the next portion.
It was a great intro course. Very basic and to the point.
I see a lot of IVF patients in my cycle and it was nice to get a thorough review.
The information is invaluable! I am so thankful that there are such knowledgeable and generous instructors to share information and experience with us.
I was very impressed with the course overall. It was easy to use the program and navigate through the different sections as well as go back to the parts I wanted to hear again. Debra Betts was very clear, precise, to the point and easy to understand. I feel more confident about treating pregnant patients safely. I can't wait to take my new knowledge to the clinic!
