The biggest difference with Mazin's classes compared to many other classes I have attended is that Mazin ONLY teaches on topics he knows he has attained good clinical success in. He has been practicing for over 25 years, is very organized, and honest in his clinical integrity. Everything he teaches is very clinically applicable. I really appreciate this, as many times after a workshop lecture I leave wondering how I can use the information I have listened to in a direct practical way. 

So, if one feels that they already can attain good clinical outcomes in the topics discussed then I am sure that the information may seem redundant. For me, I know that these can be challenging disorders to treat and, even though I have already travelled to England to study these same topics with Mazin, I most welcome the refresher :-)

Having Trouble?

I Cannot Hear Any Audio

1. Verify that your computer speakers are on and your computer’s volume is at an audible level
2. Check to see if the meeting host has provided teleconference information. If this is the case, you need to dial in via telephone to hear meeting audio.

If you are having trouble seeing a host’s screen, try the following:

1. Click the Scroll button in the Share Pod. This will show the host’s screen at its full resolution and follow the host’s cursor.
2. The host may have enabled a Full Screen button. Clicking on this displays shared content in the entire meeting window.
3. Adjust your connection speed by selecting Meeting > Optimize Room Bandwidth and choose DSL or Modem. The Meeting menu is located at the upper left of the meeting room.

I personally purchased 20 copies of Making Babies for my two acupuncture fertility clinics to lend to patients.  Most Chinese medicine practitioners who specialize in treating fertility may think this book offers them little new information and will pass on owning a copy. I think it is worth owning and not just one but several copies.  If you are only treating with herbs and acupuncture and have not incorporated the other modalities of Chinese medicine (Diet, lifestyle and deep relaxation & stress reduction) which I think are equally or even more important than acupuncture and herbs then you need this book.  Plus it is almost the end of the first decade of 2000 so if you are not integrating with western medicine, especially the  diagnostics they can offer, then you may be missing vital information that is not only beneficial to your patients but also to how you would treat naturally using Chinese medicine and acupuncture. 

Our website, www.acubalance.ca, is evidence of how much time and resources we direct toward patient education in the areas of the importance of waiting at least 3 months before trying to conceive or doing any ART.  I applaud how Jill and Sami emphasize the importance of the right diet, moderate exercise, adequate rest & sleep and daily stress reduction can impact both male and female fertility. 

The largest obstacle I find in helping couples optimize their fertility and to conceive naturally without ART is their commitment (actually patience) to a minimum of 3 months on this natural fertility plan.

The ones that make the time and allow for the process where they change their eating and lifestyle habits, incorporate relaxation techniques and herbs and acupuncture  find success not only in optimized fertility but also in quality of life (both physical and emotional). 

I think Making Babies is an incredible resource for couples and this is why I think practitioners who believe in the merits of patient education should invest in this book for their patient’s sake and offer it for sale or as part of a lending library.  I did this many years ago with Randine Lewis’s book, The Infertility Cure and I am happy to have Making Babies by Sami S. David and Jill Blakeway to recommend to my patients to help them conceive naturally or increase their IVF odds.  This book will help us at Acubalance accomplish are emission in giving these men and women their lives back.  Please read it!

Everyone has different styles and needs when it comes to learning.  For some, live presentations are the best choice.  You have the opportunity to have a brief discourse with the presenter, network with colleagues, and have individual questions answered.  However, at the end of the weekend all you have are your notes and the course handouts.
